About Us
Welcome to the morse
Clinic!
Our goal for you is a life free from addiction. Addiction is a dis-
ease that impacts health, relationships, career, finances and
overall emotional well-being. It affects family members and
others close to you. It consumes lives regardless of economic,
educational or racial background. The good news is addiction is
treatable.
Medication & Counseling
The use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a “whole-patient” approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. Medications used are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are clinically driven and tailored to meet each patient’s needs. Research shows that a combination of medication and therapy can successfully treat substance use disorders, and for some medications can help sustain recovery. Medications are also used to prevent or reduce opioid overdose.
The ultimate goal is full recovery, including the ability to live a self-directed life. This treatment approach has been shown to:
- Improve patient survival
- Increase retention in treatment
- Decrease illicit opiate use and other criminal activity among people with substance use disorders
- Increase patients’ ability to gain and maintain employment
Improve birth outcomes among women who have substance use disorders and are pregnant
Research also shows that these medications and therapies can contribute to lowering a person’s risk of contracting HIV or hepatitis C by reducing the potential for relapse. Learn more about substance misuse and how it relates to HIV, AIDS, and Viral Hepatitis.

Individual Counseling
Counseling allows individuals to explore their feelings, beliefs, and behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
Group Counseling
When people learn to interact freely with other group members, they tend to recreate the same patterns of interactions that have proved troublesome to them outside of the group. The group therapy environment provides a safe environment to experiment with alternative ways of treating yourself and others that may be more satisfying. Many people feel they are somehow weird or strange because of their problems or the way they feel; it is encouraging to hear that other people have similar difficulties, and can grow past them.
Psychotherapy
People attend psychotherapy for many varied reasons, including navigating challenging life events, seeking treatment for mental health diagnoses, and looking to develop better coping skills. There are many types of psychotherapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and supportive therapy. A therapist may recommend using one or a mixture of these types according to the person’s individual goals.
Talk therapy may provide you with long-term benefits, including reducing symptoms of mental health conditions. It can also provide you with skills even when therapy is over. Most people who attend therapy receive some benefit. You can find a therapist you trust and can feel comfortable talking with. In addition, you can find affordable therapy options that may suit your budget.
Social Determinants of Health
Addressing differences in Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) makes progress toward health equity, a state in which every person has the opportunity to attain their highest level of health. SDOH have been shown to have a greater influence on health than either genetic factors or access to healthcare services. For example, poverty is highly correlated with poorer health outcomes and higher risk of premature death. SDOH, including the effects of centuries of racism, are key drivers of health inequities within communities of color. The impact is pervasive and deeply embedded in our society, creating inequities in access to a range of social and economic benefits—such as housing, education, wealth, and employment. These inequities put people at higher risk of poor health.
