Hi! I’m Debbie Goddard, a professional colour analysis consultant and the founder of ECL. I studied colour analysis at the International Image Institute in Toronto, Ontario, specializing in the 16 colour season theory. I am beyond grateful to be able to do what I love at Empower Colour Lab: Combing over 30 years of corporate leadership experience with my colour analysis skills, I’ll help you feel confident, look your best and empower your style. I’m passionate about the transformative potential of personal colour analysis and I can help you discover your true palette.
Colour Theory
Hue –Issac Newton organized the colours of the rainbow into a colour wheel. In this picture, we become aware that the left side of the wheel has warm hues and right side has cool hues.
The 16 Seasonal Colour System that I follow is based on the Munsell Colour System. Albert Munsell added the dimensions of value and chroma to the hues in Issac Newton’s colour wheel.
The colours of the rainbow are bright and clear.
Hues become softer or muted when toned with gray.
Tinting hues with white creates a lighter version of the colour and shading colours with black deepens the hue.
The dimensions of colour play a huge part in finding the colours that harmonize best with our own personal dimensions. Our skin and the colour of our hair and eyes influence our undertone, chroma and value. Harmonious colours will light us up and wearing conflicting colours will pull down our appearance. Your personalized Consultation.
A personal colour analysis is a crucial step towards empowering your style. Here’s what you can expect from your 1-hour personalized consultation:
- We’ll start by studying your natural features: your skin undertone and eye, and hair colour.
- I’ll give you a brief overview of the science of colour and the meaning of hue, value, and intensity.
- If we’re meeting in person, I will drape assorted colour fabrics around you and we can observe how the light they reflect onto your face either clashes or harmonizes with your natural colouring. For a virtual colour consultation, you will send me a couple of photos of yourself, in natural daylight and I will use digital colour frames and backgrounds.
- Over the length of our consultation, I will gradually narrow down the selection of colours to those that complement you the most. We’ll know that we’ve got the winning colours, value and intensity when we see how they bring you to life, and make you look refreshed, younger, and healthier!
- If you’re interested, we can review what kind of jewelry, hair colour and makeup shades go best with your natural colouring.
- Before you leave, I will give you a visual guide with all the colours in your true palette. You can refer to it next time you’re adding pieces to your wardrobe.
- I will follow up by email with a detailed report about the results of your personal colour analysis.
- You can also book a follow up wardrobe consultation in your home, where we’ll harmonize your existing wardrobe with your seasonal palette and put outfits together.
